The Creamiest Lemon Alfredo Sauce

Alfredo sauce to me, is one of the most delicious and decadent sauces there is. I do find that it can be a little one note, though. So, I like to add fresh lemon juice and grated lemon zest to mine to help brighten it up! The sauce is still cheesy and velvety smooth, but the acidity from the lemon helps to cut through the richness that tends to make the sauce feel heavy. My favorite part about this sauce? It takes no time to make!

Ingredients:

 
4 tablespoon unsalted butter
2 tablespoon gluten free flour
1/4 teaspoon white pepper (optional)
1 + 1/2 tablespoon fresh lemon zest
1 cup + 2 tablespoons heavy cream
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 cup shredded parmesan
1/3 cup grated parmesan

Instructions:

 

1. Heat the butter in a medium sauce pan over medium-high heat. Add flour and cook for 1 minute whisking constantly so it does not burn.

2. While continuing to whisk, slowly add the milk and cream, making sure there are no lumps.

3. Add the cheeses, lemon juice, pepper, and lemon zest. Whisk until combined and cheese is melted. Taste and add salt if needed
