10 Minute Hard Boiled Eggs

Nailing the hard boiled egg can be a source of frustration for many home cooks, but it doesn’t have to be! This is my recipe for the perfect hard boiled egg. I add baking soda to the water because I find it makes the eggs easier to peel. Hard boiled eggs are so handy to have in your fridge. Enjoy them for breakfast, use them in meal prep or salads. And of course deviled eggs and egg salad – the possibilities are endless.

Ingredients:

6 large eggs

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions:

1. Place the eggs and baking soda in a large pot and fill with just enough cold water to completely cover the eggs.

2. Bring to a full boil.

3. While you are waiting for the eggs to come to a boil, prepare an ice bath, which is bowl of ice water that you will place the eggs in once they have finished cooking.

4. Turn off the heat, cover the pot, and set a timer for 10 minutes.

5. Carefully drain the water and remove the eggs from the pot, I find a slotted spoon or a “spider” strainer works best, and place eggs into the ice bath. Allow to cool fully before peeling.

Tip: When peeling eggs, I always gently tap and roll the egg on a hard surface to ensure the shell cracks all around. I then peel the eggs under cold, running water.
